BEGIN CRISIS AVERTED MUSIC:
Once the two alerted the authorities about the trauma below, the order was made to cut the town of Birka off from its underground shelter. The remaining citizens weren’t sure how such a decision would affect their mining economy, but they knew their safety was on the line, so the town’s carpenter left his dinner table and acted quickly to board up the hole. Within moments, the sub-surface threat had been averted.

Rudimus: I felt dirty that day. I was at a point that I could not handle. We had danger below. We had danger outside. If we remained cooped up for much longer, we would have danger inside. I almost made the decision to let anarchy be our new way of government. |
But the mayor stood strong and continued to maintain his decree. The guards continued to stand their posts. The citizens continued to struggle with their way of life. Centaurus continued to plan his escape.

Frazz: Centaurus told me about his plans from early on, but I was against them. I didn’t want my best friend leaving town. But he always had this passion to discover who he was, so I never tried to stop him. I did try to cripple him once, but I never tried to stop him. Hamrig: The day I found out Centaurus was planning to leave, despite the mayor’s orders, I bought a ten-liter bottle of beer and chugged it down in three gulps. I never partied so hard in my life. I lost my liver in the process, but it was worth it. |
